Leaders: MaryLiz Riddle, bookbinder/writer and Marsha Cherington, writer. Come join us at the Cobleigh Library in Lyndonville and make your own one-of-a-kind, hand-sewn book. We will be learning methods of exposed-spine sewing which allow the book to open flat. The size will be perfect for carrying in your pack or bag. We will divide our time betwen book making and writing. Bring your creative imagination and desire to learn a new skill or perhaps renew a forgotten one. All levels of writers and bookbinders are welcome. We are all beginners at something and have much to teach each other. Come participate in the act of honoring your own work by building a unique book. Here’s your chance to spend an evening recapturing the spontaneous enthusiasm for simply messing about with needle and thread, glue and scissors, paper and pen. Materials will be provide, however, you are welcome to bring any pictures, photos, poems, cards, or decorative papers you may have that you want to use. Event Description: Our biggest festival of the year is our annual Fall Foliage Festival. The day starts at 9:00 am. Kids activities and the craft fair end at 3 pm, but the Beer & Wine tent will be open starting at 11 am with live music all day. Event Description: The Darling Inn/Lyndon Area Meal Site has a bus going to the Fryeburg Fair on Senior Day, Tuesday September 30th, 2014. The bus will pick up at the Darling Inn at 6:00 am, and pick up at the Price Chopper in St. Johnsbury approximately 6:20 am, It will arrive at the fair approximately 8:30 am, and returning to lyndonville at 6:00 pm. The price for the bus trip is $25.00 (that is only for the bus ride), anyone under 65 will have to pay an entry fee at the gate when they arrive. Event Description: 11th annual Rubber Ducky Derby, a fundraiser for Ben's Mill in Barnet, VT. on Saturday October 4th. 2236 West Barnet Road. Ducks swim at 11AM. Hand cranking of apples to make cider - tours of the mill - blacksmith on duty at the forge - machines demonstrated. Multiple prizes donated by generous local merchants. Food tent hosted by Barnet's four-wheeler club. Musical entertainment while you wait for announcement of winning ducks. Again this year there will be 6 "Lucky Ducks" the numbers of which have already been drawn and placed in a sealed envelope. You can rent a duck for $5, or rent a Quack Pack of 5 ducks for $20. Event Description: Not your average CX in the park. A cyclocross through the backwoods of Victory for cross bikes or mountain bikes – on a 10 km circuit, dominated by sections of singletrack, pasture and logging trail. Select from 20 or 40 kilometer options. 1 lap beginner and kids categories offered. Expect more hills and distance than a suburban cyclocross, almost no dirt roads but smoother surfaces than most MTB events..32-35c cyclocross tires would work well for the course, although MTB’s with 1.9 Inch tires will go well too. Climbing gears are recommended. The BCX will take place two weeks before the CircumBurke MOUNTAIN RUN and MTB CHALLENGE, our other event which circles Burke and Umpire Mts. Event Description: Kingdom Trails, Conservation Collaboratives and the Burke Area Chamber of Commerce welcome you to the Northeast Kingdom on Saturday October 25, 2014 for an unforgettable adventure around Burke Mountain. The 26 mile MTB circuit includes miles of rarely used singletrack with over 3000 feet of climbing and descending. The Mountain Run and CircumBurke Lite use a challenging 18 mile circuit which avoids some of the singletrack and elevation gain. A two lap endurance MTB event will cover the 26 mile circuit twice for 52 miles. FORMAT & START TIME: Mass Start Waves, Start Time TBA MTB LITE: 18 miles MTB: 26 Miles. Men, Women, Fat Bike and Singlespeed categories. ENDURANCE MTB: 52 miles, Time cut-off at 3 hours for 1st lap . ENDURO BIKE: Supplemental option for Strava.com users. Be classified in Enduro over 2 singletrack sections! “Leaderboard” will be generated by Strava during event. 2013 sections-Leif’s&Clodhopper.
